Solving the global crisis the Jeremy Rifkin way?

American economist Jeremy Rifkin is absolutely right. His analysis of our global crises is spot on. The plan he proposes is solid. We can switch to durable energies on a global scale and distribute those durable energies through an 'Intergrid' just like we distribute information and knowledge through the internet. Let's switch to durable energy sources to stop climate change and jump start an empathic world economy. Good plan! But ...

His plan might even be better if we not only distribute information, knowledge and electrical power but also the power to solve global problems amongst linked individuals. If nation states or 192 world leaders are not smart enough, motivated enough, fast enough or flexible enough to solve the energy crisis + the climate crisis + the economic crisis for their people, they may be as obsolete as the old energy sources and economics they have to replace. It's not logical to primarily turn to nation states or politicians.

Why not let millions of people world wide, that do get it, solve our problems together. Governments didn't build the information society: scientists and creatives did. The nature of global problems and distributed solutions doesn't go very well with national or local governments and a bureaucratic approach to problem solving. Let alone: do thing fast!

Stemhok: Verkiezingsdag - Van de regen

Het regent. Al de hele ochtend. Op verkiezingsdag. Als dat geen spetterende invloed op de uitslag gaat krijgen, dan weten wij van Stemhok het niet meer. Tijd voor een rondje speculeren...

Volgens Maurice de Hond vallen dan alle prognoses in het water. Als het 's ochtends regent is dat geen probleem voor de Randstad. Daar werken mensen allemaal volgens Maurice en dus stemmen ze pas als ze thuis komen van hun werk. De PvdA is groter dan de VVD in de randstad en het CDA is er piepklein.

In het zuiden van het land is het CDA juist groot en doet de VVD goede zaken. In het zuiden gaat iedereen 's morgens al stemmen, zeggen ze. Logischerwijs betekent dat dat de mensen in het zuiden dus niet werken, anders zouden ze wel 's middags gaan stemmen. Maar dit terzijde.

De katholieken in Brabant zijn dit jaar massaal van de ark van Noach gesprongen. Zelfs zij zijn Balkenende-moe en willen zich de komende vier jaar bezondigen aan een ritje in de VVD-bulldozer.

Stemmen gaat op 9 juni niet meevallen voor kiezers. OK. Ze hebben de stemhok stemwijzer om op terug te vallen, maar zelfs met ons advies in de hand rest er nog een klein probleempje. Je stemt hoe dan ook op het CDA. Al wil niemand dat.

Wat betekent het bijvoorbeeld als je op het CDA stemt? Precies! Dan ben je rechtstreeks de klos. Een stem op Balkenende levert al gauw een coalitie op met .. het CDA. En dat willen alleen hardcore CDA-ers nog.

Stem je op de VVD. Dan krijg je het CDA er gratis bij, want Rutte wil bezuinigen en Cohen wil investeren. Rutte wil sowieso bezuinigen op investeren. Dus tenzij Cohen in bezuinigingen wil investeren, komen er dus geen 76 zetels of meer via PvdA en VVD tot stand. Rutte heeft feitelijk maar 1 optie: Balkenende.

Stem je PVV? Dan stem je ook CDA, want wie wil er nou met Wilders regeren? Niemand met meer dan 1 zetel … behalve het CDA. Want die regeren met IEDEREEN. Echt IEDEREEN. Maakt niet uit of je gek bent of geestelijk instabiel. Als ze maar mogen regeren.

Amsterdammers.net is an online neighborhood website containing news, agenda and media connected to exact locations in the city of Amsterdam. It maps neighborhoods, boroughs, streets and squares of information. Amsterdammers can post info to the site through their profile.

The profile of a user can be connected to their groups, relations and organizations. The site lets Amsterdam people map the social field of their city(part).

Professional organizations like local government, social workers and occupant organization can use the address book and the office tools that are available through the cms of the website. The address book is build by the community. And more up-to-date than a single user address book. Organizations can sent newsletters and email messages to target groups within the neighborhood about their projects, activities and plans.

Stemhok

Stemhok covers the national elections in the Netherlands with satirical content. The website www.stemhok.nl is active whenever the Dutch parliament, named Tweede Kamer, is re-elected. Stemhok started in 2001 when members of the stemhok editorial staff where inspired by the exploding political landscape in the Netherlands with rightwing fundamentalists, left wing extremists and lousy couch potatoes in the middle started to take shape. We haven't stopped laughing since ...

Every time Stemhok surfaces the website gets an new makeover and a new voting adviser tool (a 'Stemwijzer' in Dutch) containing 20 silly questions that about 100.000 people answer (mostly on the day of the elections) and which leads to an advise from Stemhok which party to vote for. The general reaction of people after reading their advise:"How did they ever come to advise me just the party I always vote for or the one I was actually thinking about voting for this time ... with such a load of bullshit questions. Thanks for the helpfull advise Stemhok!".

Hi. This website contains all the stuff concerned with my one-person-company todeBoon. On the pages of the blog I'll post stuff about the things I do for money and the things I do for fun. The blog will be in English. The for money stuff will be about creativity, internet, politics, art & culture, social media and digital campaigning. And the fun? Well: you never know what kind of fun you'll have tomorrow.We'll see. A part of this website's content will be in Dutch. Mostly stuff about projects I work on now or work I did in the past. Also an archive of content I wrote for various media and companies. But first I'll have to fix up the look of the site. At this moment I'm looking at an all white page without any desing exept placement on the page. Later!
